One of the main sectors in which the city’s structural plan is implemented is the road sector. In this regard, the Addis Ababa City Roads Authority, which is responsible for building, maintaining and managing the road infrastructure of Addis Ababa, is working to make road infrastructure accessible to all corners of the city.
The authority works based on the constantly updated structural plans of the city and by considering traffic conditions and development issues. In particular, in the past seven years, great efforts have been made to expand the city’s road coverage and accessibility through regular road construction and corridor development projects.
Modern vehicle transportation corridors, wide and comfortable pedestrian and bicycle paths, large traffic control bridges and underground vehicle passages have been constructed, enabling the city’s road sector to move to a new phase of development. The achievements in improving existing roads and building new roads have not only made traffic movement in our capital more convenient and efficient, but have also contributed significantly to the economic and social development of the city.
On the other hand, regular and timely road maintenance works are currently being carried out to ensure that the existing road network in the city continues to provide safe and appropriate services. In addition, rehabilitation works are being carried out extensively to improve traffic flow.
In order to further improve the services provided in the road sector, our authority has recently carried out a comprehensive institutional reform. This reform will enable the institution to continue to achieve superior performance and promote efficient use of resources to fulfill its mission effectively.
Finally, although this progress is commendable, I would like to take this opportunity to remind the residents of our city to maintain, care for and properly use the road infrastructure built with high government and public resources.
A better road for a better Addis Ababa!
Thank you.
